Over 17 months, more than 200,000 light sources were replaced, leading to an annual energy saving of 25 million DKK for Coop. This significant energy reduction translates to a decrease in Coop's CO2 footprint by 6,000 tons each year.

Nordic Business Light has upgraded over 700 Coop stores and locations with new LED lighting, resulting in significant annual electricity savings of 25 million DKK. By replacing over 200,000 light sources over a period of 17 months, Coop has experienced a substantial improvement in their energy costs.
The payback period for the project is under 2 years when considering energy savings and the energy subsidies received. Additionally, Coop benefits from other advantages, including lower maintenance costs, improved lighting, and increased employee satisfaction.
The short payback period has been largely achieved by utilizing retrofitting in 60% of the lighting installations. Nordic Business Light has updated existing fixtures to accommodate LED tubes, while the remaining 40% have been equipped with entirely new fixtures.

A total of 45 electricians were involved in the task, and it typically took 1-2 days to replace all the lighting in a store. On average, lighting was installed in 10 stores per week, but by the end of 2018, the flow had increased to 50 stores per week.
