Nordic Business Light was responsible for new lighting for Coop (the biggest retailer of consumer goods in Denmark) in 700 stores and a number of offices and warehouse facilities. We changed more than 200,000 light sources over a period of 17 months, saving Coop DKK 25 million per year. The power savings correspond to a reduction of Coop’s CO2 footprint (climate impact) of 6,000 tonnes of CO2 annually.

We describe the Coop project in 3 subcases, which look at: the financial results of the project, the benefits for the working environment and the cooperation with Nordic Business Light.

3 cases from the Coop project

More than 700 Coop stores and a number of offices and warehouses were fitted with new LED lighting. 200,000 light sources were replaced over a period of 17 months, saving Coop DKK 25 million a year in power costs.

30,000 Coop employees have been given new lighting. It is guaranteed flicker free. The result is a healthier working environment.

The successful installation of 200,000 light sources in 17 months was facilitated by shrewd project management, a hard-working team of electricians and comprehensive understanding of Coop’s needs and organization.

The lighting project is one of our best investment cases. It has a high return, low risk and major environmental benefits. As chair of the investment committee, I could not hope for better.
